The IBTS delivers monthly professional practice placements to Medical Science Students sat TU Dublin, GMIT and UCC.

During the placement students are required to develop the knowledge, skills, and professional standards of proficiency that prepares graduates to work in the fields of Blood Transfusion, Transplant and Biotherapies.

Training in the IBTS is an essential part of this preparation and all students training on CORU accredited Medical Science programmes must undertake 40 hours of supervised training in the National Blood Centre.

During the placement Students need to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the full vein to vein process from donation to transfusion.
