About Us

The IBTS Tissue Establishment license was obtained in January 2008 for Cardiovascular, Ocular and other products. The Tissue Bank is also a HPRA authorised Good Manufacturing Product (GMP) site for the manufacture of allogeneic Serum Eye Drops. The tissue bank now supplies a broad range of tissues for surgical and therapeutic use across Ireland including musculoskeletal tissue, serum eye-drops and allogeneic skin for treatment of burns.

The European Directive 2004/23/EC and its technical annexes ensure a high standard of quality and safety is maintained in all Tissue Bank activities. This applies to the donation, procurement, testing, processing, preservation, storage and distribution of all tissues.

Tissue at the IBTS

The following are types of tissue that are either processed at the IBTS tissue bank or are obtained from other tissue suppliers for use in Ireland. Please see the clinical services links for more information on each type of tissue available at the IBTS. The Related Links page provides web links for more information about tissue donation, accrediting bodies, affiliations and our international tissue suppliers.
