DEFER:

• If grossly obese, e.g. the donor has difficulty in getting onto or off the donation bed / chair, or is short of breath on minimal exertion or venous access is very difficult

• Unexplained recent weight loss to a significant degree, (more than 4.5 kg or 10 lbs).

REFER:

• Refer to IBTS/DC/DI/0015 (Nomogram) for management of female donors (cis and transgender) and transgender male blood donors.
