PERMANENTLY EXCLUDE:
- If malignant or part of a multi-system disorder
- Donors who have received thyroid - stimulating hormone (Thyrotropin) of human pituitary origin.
DEFER:
- While under investigation
- Donor with active Grave’s disease
- For 2 years after stopping anti-thyroid tablets (Hyperthyroidism).
ACCEPT:
- Goitre if well and euthyroid
- 6 months after thyroidectomy or after radioactive iodine
- Hypothyroidism, If well and euthyroid on stable maintenance treatment with thyroxine (Enquire about complications e.g. angina).
