PERMANENTLY EXCLUDE:

• If malignant or part of a multi-system disorder
• Donors who have received thyroid - stimulating hormone (Thyrotropin) of human pituitary origin.

DEFER:

• While under investigation
• Donor with active Grave’s disease
• For 2 years after stopping anti-thyroid tablets (Hyperthyroidism).

 ACCEPT:

• Goitre if well and euthyroid
• 6 months after thyroidectomy or after radioactive iodine
• Hypothyroidism, If well and euthyroid on stable maintenance treatment with thyroxine (Enquire about complications e.g. angina).
