1. ARTERIAL THROMBOSIS
PERMANENTLY EXCLUDE:
- If the donor has ever had an arterial thrombosis.
2. VENOUS THROMBOSIS
ACCEPT:
- If the donor has an isolated attack with specific cause (excluding axillary vein thrombosis) may be accepted after complete recovery and off all anticoagulant therapy for at least 7 days providing the cause of the thrombosis was not in itself a reason for exclusion
- If the donor has a thrombophilic trait and has never had an episode of thrombosis.
DEFER:
- For 7 days from date of complete recovery if the donor had a venous thrombosis with a specific cause (e.g. post-op, smoking) and if the donor is off all anticoagulant therapy.
PERMANENTLY EXCLUDE:
- If the donor ever had an axillary vein thrombosis (even if an isolated incident)
- If the donor has had more than one incident of a venous thrombosis.
