ACCEPT:

• While menstruating if the donor feels well

DEFER:

• If a period has been missed and the donor thinks they are pregnant
• 48 hours after taking medication to decrease blood loss e.g. tranexamic acid (Cyklokapron)
• If donor is under investigation for heavy and/or prolonged periods until results are available
• If donor has uncontrolled period pain
