Donations for transfusion to neonates must meet the following criteria:

The donor must have donated within the last 5 years
The donor must not have had an homologous blood transfusion (red cells, platelets, FFP, S/D plasma, cryoprecipitate or intravenous immunoglobulin) in or outside the Republic of Ireland at any time
The donor must not have taken aspirin or a medication containing aspirin in the 5 days prior to donation
