1. AFFECTED INDIVIDUAL
PERMANENTLY EXCLUDE:
- If donor has been diagnosed with granuloma inguinale
2. SEXUAL CONTACT WITH INFECTED PERSON
Confirm by questioning that such donors have fully understood the Blood Safety Information
PERMANENTLY EXCLUDE:
- If donor was not clinically diagnosed following sexual contact, but was treated empirically
- If the donor did not require treatment following sexual contact and complete a confidential form and refer SpMO NBC and Dr on desk duty MRTC

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Granuloma inguinale is a genital ulcerative disease caused by the bacterium Klebsiella granulomatis. It is spread by sexual contact and can be effectively treated with antibiotics once diagnosed. Donors with granuloma inguile are deferred to protect recipient safety
