ACCEPT:
If donor had:
- Dental inspection or dental impressions
- Fitting, adjustment or removal of dental brace
- Uncomplicated temporary filling unless it is part of a root canal treatment, in which case see below
- A donor that has a dental implant (root device) in place awaiting a permanent tooth / cap to be applied can be accepted once the site is healed, there is no symptom of infection and no oral antibiotics were required in the last 7 days
DEFER:
- If donor has a toothache today (until resolved)
- For 24 hours after scale and polish
- For 24 hours after uncomplicated* filling unless it is part of a root canal treatment
- For 7 days after uncomplicated* extraction
- For 2 weeks from recovery from infection after taking antibiotics for dental treatment
- For 2 weeks from recovery from a dental abscess
- For 7 days after completion of treatment for fitting of cap or crown
- For 7 days after completion titanium implant
- For 7 days after root canal treatment
- For 7 days after bovine implant/bone implant if it has a CE mark in Europe and FDA approval in USA
PERMANENTLY EXCLUDE:
- If the donor needs to take prophylactic antibiotics prior to any dental treatment because of risk of Sub-acute bacterial endocarditis (SBE)
- If allogenic human tissue (bone) has been used
- If bovine implant/bovine bone has no CE mark in Europe or FDA approval USA or the type of the implant cannot be ascertained
