ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Dengue fever is spread by the bite of a mosquito. Dengue fever begins abruptly after an incubation period of 5-7 days and usually has 3 phases: febrile, critical and convalescent. Fever typically lasts 2-7 days. The most common symptoms are sudden high fever, severe headaches, pain behind the eyes, severe joint and muscle pain, fatigue, nausea, vomiting, skin rash which appears two to five days after the onset of fever, mild bleeding (such a nose bleed, bleeding gums or easy bruising). Warning signs of progression to severe Dengue occur in the late febrile phase and can lead to persistent vomiting, severe abdominal pain, difficulty breathing and signs of hypovolemic shock. Dengue Fever can be transmitted by blood transfusions
