NOTES
Any cosmetic treatment that involves piercing the skin is considered a potential Hepatitis risk. This includes semi-permanent make up & embroidering of the eyebrows. Some cosmetic treatments may involve the use of plasma or platelets, e.g. a vampire facelift which involves the injection of platelet rich plasma, derived from a patient’s own blood, into the face to reduce wrinkles
ACCEPT:
- If the cosmetic treatment did not involve the use of needles as long as the donor did not suffer any reaction to the treatment
- If the donor had electrolysis
DEFER:
- For 4 months if donor had cosmetic treatment that involved piercing the skin if treatment was carried out by anyone other than a registered medical practitioner
- For 48 hours if donor had cosmetic treatment that involved piercing the skin if treatment was carried out by a registered general practitioner
- For 12 months if donor had cosmetic treatment that involved injection of plasma or platelets derived from his/her own blood
- For 28 days of cosmetic treatment used RETIN A cream
PERMANENTLY EXCLUDE:
- If donor had cosmetic treatment that involved injection of plasma or platelets not derived from their own blood outside ROI
- if donor had cosmetic treatment that involved injection of plasma or platelets not derived from their own blood in ROI
