ACCEPT:

• If donor had an autologous tissue or cell transplant in or outside the Republic of Ireland at any time if there is no other contraindication to donation.

PERMANENTLY EXCLUDE:

•  If donor had a homologous tissue transplant (including bone) or homologous cell transplant in or outside the Republic of Ireland at any time 
• If donor had a corneal transplant or scleral transplant or ocular tissue transplant
• If donor received a donated egg or embryo (including as a surrogate) since 1st January 1980.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

The transfer of tissues or organs between individuals and species has led to the spread of infection. The above guidelines are intended to minimize these risks. In view of vCJD, people who have received a tissue or cell transplant since 1980, will be excluded from donation in the same way as recipients of transfusion are.
