DEFER:

• For 3 months after last dose if the donor has taken Sodium Valproate if the reason for taking it is not a deferral

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Establish why the donor is taking the medication as the condition may indicate permanent exclusion. Sodium Valproate can be prescribed for epilepsy, mood stabiliser and or for pain relief. Sodium Valproate  is teratogenic and therefore donors who have taken it are deferred to protect recipient safety
