Polio is a disease caused by infection with the poliovirus. It is mostly asymptomatic and has an incubation period of 5-35 days. Because of global immunisation programmes, it has largely been eliminated. It still exists in some countries in Africa and Asia. Donors with long-term consequences of polio may have some physical disability that could affect their safety while donating
