NOTE

SLAPPED CHECK SYNDROME, ERYTHEMA INFECTIOSUM and FIFTH DISEASE are all caused by PARVOVIRUS B19

ACCEPT

• 4 weeks from complete recovery from all systemic symptoms (low-grade fever, malaise, headache, nasal discharge, abdominal pain and sore throat)
• If any contact in the previous 3 weeks has only been with someone in the post infectious phase i.e. after the rash has appeared

DEFER

• For 3 weeks (21 days) from last contact. (A person who has a definite history of past Parvovirus B19 can be accepted without a
  deferral period for contact with Parvovirus B19)

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Rashes and joint pains can persist for several weeks or months in someone who has made a full systemic recovery from Parvovirus B19; these symptoms do not prevent donation
