NOTES

Presence of an arrhythmia may indicate a serious heart condition.

ACCEPT:

• Donors who have had successful ablation therapy for Wolff-Parkinson- White syndrome (WPW) can be accepted if they are well and asymptomatic and it has been confirmed that the ablation was successful
• If a donor has a family history of  Long QT syndrome, but has been screened and the syndrome was excluded.

 DEFER:

• While under investigation
• If a donor has a family history of Long QT syndrome, but has not been screened, defer until after the donor has been screened and the syndrome has been excluded.

 PERMANENTLY EXCLUDE:

• If a donor who has / had atrial fibrillation, even if intermittent
• If a donor who is prescribed or is taking Digoxin
• Donors who have had successful cardioversion for atrial fibrillation
• If a donor who is on medication for an arrhythmia, even if well controlled
• If a donor  has a pacemaker inserted
• If a donor has a defibrillator inserted.
