ACCEPT:

• If bite was from an animal (EXCEPT a primate) in a country where rabies is not prevalent
• If the wound is fully healed

DEFER:

• If the wound is not fully healed OR is infected
• For one year after a bite if rabies immunisation was given after the bite  
• For one year after the bite if the bite was from an animal in a country where rabies is prevalent 

PERMANENTLY EXCLUDE:

• If ever bitten by a primate (monkeys or apes) in any country
• If donor was ever diagnosed with rabies, even of now fully recovered
